If you haven’t already, read Michael Pollen’s, The Omnivore’s Dilema.  An outstanding review of the state of industrial agriculture.  Also, read Why What You Eat Matters and Fast Food Nation.  I’m convinced we are bring upon ourselves the plague of degenerative diseases by eating “industrial food”.
